Millennial Challenges in the Workplace
Managers complain about millennials in the workplace. Problems correlated with millennials include disruptive ways of coping, and an attitude of entitlement. Simon Sinek described four characteristics as to why millennials are who they are: parenting (style), impatience, technology, and environment. “Most millennials in the workplace have difficulty reaching job satisfaction and meaningful relationships.”
Sinek identified three of four characteristics that are relevant to workplace performance: impatience, technology, and the environment. Corporations that address these characteristics build confidence, creativity, and social skills. Success is a steady, consistent, interdependent and autonomous achievement.
Satisfied millennial employees are a selling point.
Listen to employees. A monthly conversation with a beginners mind may clarify any potential issues of job satisfaction. Empathy and respect are two crucial aspects within this conversation.
Less programs. More process. Processes guide achievements. Programs provide no guarantees. Autonomy derives from a facilitated process that supports diversity and simulates design thinking.
Lead by example. A healthy environment includes satisfied, meaningful, and engaged relationships. Sync passions with pursuits. Relatable leaders are more desirable to follow.
